Welcome!
Welcome to the Modoc Middle School Website. I am glad you are visiting us.
At Modoc Middle School we are committed to providing the highest quality education possible while guiding students through this unique period of their development. We all work together to prepare students for high school and beyond when they become responsible and contributing members of our society.
To increase communication between parents and teachers we have monthly newsletters, schedule parent conference days in the fall, and send home progress reports two times per grading period. We also have the Parent ABI program up and running, which will allow parents the ability to view their student’s progress in each class. Please contact the school if you have questions about how to access this program. Our Modoc Middle School Community Support Club (MMS CSC) is a parent/teacher group that meets once a month in an effort to increase communication and to raise funds to help support student activities at MMS.
Modoc Middle school offers an Advisory period each Tuesday. This time is used to offer our students activities that they would not otherwise be exposed to. Examples include: yearbook, GATE, student council, intervention, and study hall. Also, there are one-on-one discussions held between the students and their advisory teacher about test scores, grades, citizenship, and other issues during this time. As ideas surface for additional activities for our students during this advisory time, our staff will discuss and pursue those.
Our staff is focusing on standards based instruction. This year we will continue implementing benchmark assessments in each of the core curricular areas to assess student progress towards the attainment of these standards. We will also continue with our “Working Lunch” program, which is proving to be an extremely beneficial program for our students.
